So I just wanted to remind you all of the exciting 'Butterfly' photography exhibition launch on the 4th November 2016 at 7pm!
After a successful four week collaboration with 'The Butterfly Project,' 'Staying Put,' the Wow Festival and 'Kala Sangam,' I am in the process of curating a thought provoking exhibition, ready for public viewing!
'The Butterfly Project' was set up by artist Jill Boyd, who recognised the need for further support for 'survivors' of domestic abuse once they had received help and support from domestic abuse charities like the amazing, Staying Put. Shy Burhan was fascinated by the idea of using art therapy workshops to facilitate their recovery, and a successful collaboration ensued.
The launch event will be on 4th November at 7pm which coincides with the launch of the fantastic WOW Festival at Kala Sangam, and the exhibition will run until at least mid-December! Shy Burhan will be available over the course of the WOW Festival to talk about her work and her vision for the exhibition.
Mark it in your diaries folks, and see you there!!
So with the impending exhibition launch of 'Butterfly' at The WOW Festival at Kala Sangam in Bradford, only a month away, I just wanted to share this image from last night's art therapy workshop! This is Evie, the lovely lady who introduced me to the Butterfly Project. She herself, has overcome huge odds and is a resolute survivor of domestic abuse. She now uses her skills as an artist, a speaker, and an advocate of domestic abuse charities, to put a positive spin on her experiences and demonstrate to others that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Against all odds, she is a survivor, a mother, a partner, a daughter, a sister, a human being, just like you and I. I applaud you Evie, and thank you for your countless support. :-)
